Choosing resolution and quality
Resolution sets how many pixels each page gets. At 150 dpi an A4 page becomes about 1240 × 1754 pixels, plenty for screens and chats. At 300 dpi it is about 2480 × 3508 pixels, which keeps small print readable when printed or zoomed, at roughly four times the file size.
JPG quality controls compression. 85% is hard to tell apart from 100% for most pages and much smaller. Use 95 to 100% for pages with fine lines or small text on coloured backgrounds.
Tips
- File names end with the page number padded with zeros (report-01.jpg), so they sort correctly.
- For a single page, split it out first with Split PDF and convert just that file.
- Transparent areas in a PDF become white, since JPG has no transparency.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert only one page?
This tool converts every page. Extract the page you need with Split PDF first, then convert that one-page PDF.
Which resolution should I choose?
Screen (150 dpi) for sharing online and Print (300 dpi) for printing or reading small text. Print images are about four times larger.
Will text in the JPG be selectable?
No. A JPG is a picture of the page, so text cannot be selected or searched.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
No. Remove the password first, then convert.
