Three steps

  1. 1

    Choose how to resize

By percentage, or to a fixed width or height in pixels.

  2. 2

    Add the images

Every image gets the same rule, with its own proportions kept.

  3. 3

    Download

File names include the new size, for example photo-1200x800.jpg.

Width, height or percentage?

Use Width when a website or form asks for a set width, such as 1200 px for a blog header. Height is handy for a row of product images that should line up. Percentage keeps the relationship between images in a batch: 50% halves every one, whatever its starting size.

The other side is always calculated from the image's proportions, so nothing is stretched. Images keep their format: a PNG stays a PNG with its transparency, and JPG and WebP are saved at high quality.

Tips

  • Making an image larger than its original adds no detail; it only makes the pixels bigger.
  • To also reduce the file size, run the result through Compress Image.
  • For a square crop, resize first and crop in a photo editor afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Can I set both width and height?

You set one; the other follows from the image's proportions, so the picture is never stretched.

Can I make an image bigger?

Yes, with a percentage above 100 or a larger pixel size, but it will look softer because no new detail is created.

Does resizing change the format?

No. JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG and WebP stays WebP.

Is there a maximum size?

The browser limits an image to about 100 million pixels, for example 10,000 × 10,000.
