Writing page ranges
In Custom ranges mode, every part separated by a comma becomes its own PDF. "1-3, 5, 8-" gives three files: pages 1 to 3, page 5 alone, and page 8 to the last page. A part can mix ranges and single pages if you separate them with spaces, such as "1 3 5-6", which puts pages 1, 3, 5 and 6 into one file.
Pages are copied exactly as they are, so text stays searchable and nothing is re-compressed. Each file is named after the original and its pages, for example report-pages-1-3.pdf.
Tips
- To extract a single page, choose Custom ranges and type just that page number.
- Page numbers count from the first page of the file, not the numbers printed on the pages.
- Need some pages back in one document? Merge the parts with Merge PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can I extract only certain pages?
Yes. Choose Custom ranges and type the pages you want, for example 2-4. You get one PDF with just those pages.
What does 8- mean?
From page 8 to the last page of the document.
Will the split pages lose quality?
No. Pages are copied without re-compressing, so they look exactly like the original.
Why do I get a ZIP?
When the split produces more than one file, they are bundled into a ZIP so you can download them in one go. You can also download each file separately.
